JITTU HORTICULTURE

On 22 May 2000 E.C, it was established as Jittu Horticulture holding various farms together, and then joined MIDROC Investment Group on July 25, 2008 E.C. Jittu Horticulture Corporation has four farms located in the southern and central areas of Ethiopia on a total of 132.6 hectares of land, and is currently producing vegetable and strawberry crops.
Jittu Horticulture is one of fruits and vegetables farm under Agro-Cluster of MIDROC Investment Group. In addition to exporting quality products, it also supplies fresh fruits and vegetables to the sister company, Queens Supermarket.

Holeta Farm: Located in Oromia region under Holeta city administration and 38 km away from the capital Addis Ababa at 2,400 meters above sea level. This farm has a total of 17.6 hectares of land, out of which 12 hectares of land are produced in tunnels and marketed.
Bishoftu Farm: It is a farm located at 1,850 meters above sea level in Bishoftu town, East Shewa Zone, Oromia region, 44 km away from Addis Ababa. This farm has a total land holding of 70 hectares, 50 hectares of which is open field and 2 hectares of greenhouse where farmers grow seedlings for different farming companies.
The 50 hectares covered in crops are tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, onions, lettuce, broccoli and cabbage. The farm is fully cultivated with drip irrigation technology. It has crop spraying equipment, packaging, refrigeration units, offices and adequate warehouses.
Koka Farm: It is a farm with 20 hectares of land in Lumi District, East Shewa Zone, Oromia Region, and 101.8 km away from Addis Ababa. Out of the total, 18 hectare is covered with various horticultural products, like onions, peppers, and tomatoes and unlike other farms, this farm uses canal irrigation.
Shallo Farm: It is a farm located in the area of Bishan Guracha City, Wondo District, West Arsi Zone, Oromia Region, at 279 km from Addis Ababa.

The total area is 25 hectares, and out of these 20 hectares is covered with greenhouses and mainly used for tomato production. It is a farm development with complete irrigation, spraying, packing and cooling units.

The main activities of the farm are:

Producing various vegetables and fruits (strawberry) crops in quality and quantity for domestic and foreign markets.
- Produced in Holeta Farm.
- In the production process, the strawberry seedlings are planted on the prepared land after they are imported; after two months of maintenance period, it will be fertilized and after four months it will start yielding. Then it will continue to produce for 18 (eighteen) consecutive months.In addition to the preparation of seedlings grown in the company, it cooperates with farmers around the area and various sister companies and prepares vegetable seedlings at the company’s nursery station.

1. Different types of lettuce:-
(Lolo Biondo, Lolo Rosso, Eisperg, Rominmedium and Costa)
- The place where they are produced is in Bishoftu Farm Development.
- Using different lettuce hybrid seeds, after the seedling is prepared at the nursery, it is planted on the prepared ground. After two to three months of maintenance, it starts yielding.
1. Different varieties of cabbage:-
(Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Red Cabbage, Borecole Cabbage and Cabbage)
- The place where they are produced is in Bishoftu Farm.
- Using cabbage hybrid seeds, after the seedling is prepared at the nursery, it is planted on the prepared land; after two to three months of time, it starts yielding.
1. Varieties of Onion:-
- Red onion and Yellow onion:-They are produced in Bishoftu and Koka farms.
Using different onion hybrid seeds, the onion seedling that reaches the land prepared for planting after germination at the nursery is planted.
1. Varieties of tomatoes:
- Local tomato varieties (Galilana Brigitte) are grown in open field at Bishoftu and Koka Farms and Hitech beef, plum and cherry tomato varieties are grown in greenhouses at Tikur Wuha Farm.
- Using different tomato hybrid seeds, after the seedling fermentation at the nursery, the tomato seedlings that have reached the land prepared for planting are planted, and after three months of care work, they will begin to produce. Hi-tech beef is grown in a greenhouse; Plum and cherry tomato varieties produce for six consecutive months from the time they begin to produce.
1. Pepper varieties:-
(Sweet Pepper (Paprika) & Hot Pepper)
- The peppers are produced in Bishoftu and Koka farms, and paprika is grown in greenhouses at Bishoftu farms.
- Using different pepper hybrid seeds, the seedling that reaches the land prepared for planting is planted in the nursery (as the seedling will reach in 25-30 days), it will start producing after three months of care work.
1. Sweet Corn:
- The place of production is Bishoftu Farm under development.
- Direct sowing of various sweet corn hybrid seeds on the land prepared for planting will start yielding after three months of care operations.

- They are grown in Bishoftu Farm.
- By directly sowing different hybrid seeds on the land prepared for planting, it starts yielding after three months of care work.
1. Types of Zucchinis, Egg Plant, Cucumber species
- The place of production is Bishoftu Farm development.
- Different types of zucchinis, eggplant, Cucumber hybrid seeds are planted in the land prepared for planting after seedling fermentation at the nursery. (In 25-30 days, the seedling can reach), after three months of care works, it will start yielding.
