Nuraira Farm Development was established in 1956 E.C by an Italian citizen named Montnare.
Since June 2005 E.C, MIDROC Horizon Ventures has acquired and managed Nuraira, Merti Jejju (agricultural developments) and Merti Processing Factory.
After the company came under MIDROC Investment Group, it became possible to improve the use of technology by purchasing different machinery in addition to the previous ones in order to manage the agricultural production with better expertise and to improve the product quality.
Fruit products, especially orange and tangerine products, which are more than 30 years old after being planted and due to old age and lack of care, the yield has decreased in both quantity and quality.

Orange
- They are a good source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

- Rich in nutrients, rich in antioxidants, it is very important for digestion, skin and hair health, heart and eye health. Health experts recommend that it also reduces the risk of cancer.

- The organization has its own fruit and tomato seedling expansion center and it follows modern production system.
- It also has modern farm machinery and a processing plant. In addition, the farm uses selected hybrid varieties of fruit seedlings.

- Our farm is the largest producer and supplier of fruit and Agro processing in the country.

- By providing fruit and agro processing products that can be imported to the domestic market and reducing the amount that can be imported, it is contributing to Ethiopia’s economy by allowing the country to retain foreign exchange.
Man power and job opportunities:
- In an effort to establish manpower organization for the protection of resources and property, job opportunities have been created for 657 local residents in the area of protection work by giving priority to local residents.
- In addition, the company has created employment opportunities for 5000-7000 laborers from the surrounding areas of the farms and other parts of the country on average annually.

Recently planned and completed projects:
- Continuation of permanent crop extension activities.
- Processing plant boiler works with new replacement.
- Starts Modern center Pivot Irrigation Project.
- In addition to agricultural equipment, a large budget has been allocated to change vegetable and fruit seedling operations with modern production in terms of quality and quantity, and the construction of a greenhouse has been completed and work has started.
- By replacing the processing plant that has been used for more than 30 years with a new one, it has increased its capacity with technology that can improve the quantity and quality of the product.
- The new and modern processing technology has not only improved the quality and type of Tomato Victory products, but also introduced new Tomato Victory 220 kg double concentrate and Tomato Victory 70-gram sachet products to the market.
- The packaging of the product has been changed in a way that can easily attract customers by making it easy to use.
Our main CSR activities in the last few years are:
Health:
- The organization’s health center and clinics are providing health services to an estimated 20,000-30,000 resident of the area, in addition to providing support to mothers in labor by taking them to the hospital by ambulance.
Water supply:
- 2 solar powered water filter machines valued at 450,000 Birr provided by MIDROC Construction Company were set up and have provided clean water to 2 Nuraera Farm Camps.
Bridge and road construction:
- By building a bridge connecting Boset and Jejju districts with a cost of 9 million Birr, it has been possible to make the communication between the two districts easier and benefit an estimated 20,000-30,000 people.
- Every year, the organization does internal road maintenance work at the request of city administrations and district administrations.
Education:
- The organization has provided the necessary teachers, tutors and materials in the kindergarten schools that the organization has established in four camps, and a large number of KG students are attending their studies.
- From 2006 to 2011 E.C, we have supported six primary and secondary schools in the region of the organization with 697,000.00 Birr every year for a total of 4,182,000 Birr for six years.
- In addition to our regular support for machines and materials, we have provided support of 1.2 million Birr for the newly built secondary school of Merti Jejju School.
- We have provided support of Birr 500,000 for the interior material supplement of the newly built secondary school in Alaga Dureti city.
Sports:
- From 2006 to 2010 E.C, the organization established two football training projects in Nuraira and Merti and hired five coaches to select fifty teenagers every year and did important things for sports. They have been providing training by supplementing their training and food. They have participated in tournaments organized twice in Addis Ababa and once in Adama.
- Workers are taking part in sports activities and are receiving training three days a week to make their body and mind strong and active so that they can be effective in their regular work.
Response to natural and man-made disasters:-
- Due to the conflict between Oromia and Somalia regions, Birr 2.5 million has been supported for the displaced parties, and Boset district has also supported Birr 200,000 for a shelter for displaced people.
- During the drought, a watering hole for cattle was built and put into operation; in addition work has been done to allow cattle grazing and providing food assistance.
Other supports:
- 30 hectares of land for East Shewa Zone and 5 hectares of land for Arsi Zone were given from the organization’s possession to organize and deploy youth in agriculture to create job opportunities.
- For the construction of schools and religious institutions, 44.5 hectares of land from the organization’s land holdings were given to Arsi zone and 45.25 hectares to East Shewa zone.
- 57 hectares of land has been reduced from the company’s holdings for housing projects for retirees in East Shewa Zone and Arsi Zone.
- 63 hectares of land was given from the organization’s land holding to help the efforts being made to develop Alaga Dureti (Abadiska) city, and five hundred thousand Birr (500,000 Birr) was supported to buy a transformer for the city.
- Local farmers are using irrigation water from the company’s canals and the cost of canal cleaning is covered by the company.
- In 2011 E.C, 20 million Birr was supported for selected projects to address the social and economic problems of the neighboring Kebele residents of the organization.
